A Brief History
Manoly Furniture was started by my Grandfather in Austria where he was a bed maker all his life.
When he came to the United States in 1908, he settled in New York and continued his trade. He had three sons. The oldest was my father, Larry Manoly Sr. He was the only one to continue in the furniture business. After learning the trade in New York from his father, he became shop foreman for Sloan Mayer Furniture for 15 years. While doing this he did private work to continue the business.
He married, and moved to the Washington, D.C. area continuing to expand Manoly Furniture. He specialized in insurance and household moving claims from the trucking companies. He continued to build a strong private clientele. I joined the business after graduating high school in 1971, I proceeded to work with my father under his supervision. I continued the business after my father's retirement in 1982. Today, we still deal with some of the same companies that my father dealt with. We have built a strong clientele which includes the moving industry, law firms, associations and private industry in the metro area. We also do work for the local consumer.
